CA Piyush Agarwal hails from a family of esteemed Chartered Accountants, with the firm established in 1950 by his late father, CA P.D. Agrawal ji. Having qualified in 1989, CA Piyush Agrawal achieved an impressive All India 46th rank in CA Intermediate. Throughout his illustrious career, he has been actively involved in various professional and academic endeavors, showcasing his expertise in taxation, particularly VAT and GST laws.
As a respected figure in the field of accountancy, CA Piyush Agrawal has held several prestigious positions, including President of the Kanpur Chartered Accountants' Society in 2011-12 and as Convenor of the KCAS study Circle of CIRC of ICAI in 2010-11. With a keen interest in academia, he has presented papers on VAT on numerous occasions and has been a faculty member at seminars and study circle meetings organized by CIRC of ICAI and other professional bodies. He has contributed articles on VAT to various journals published by organizations such as Kanpur Income Tax Bar Association (KITBA) and Kanpur Chartered Accountants Society (KCAS).
Recognized for his expertise and leadership, CA Piyush Agrawal was elected as a Regional Council Member of The Central India Regional Council of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the tenure 2013-16. He has held significant positions within CIRC of ICAI, including Treasurer in 2014-15 and Vice Chairman in 2015-16. Additionally, he was appointed as a reviewer of the Technical Guide to Uttarakhand VAT Act and Uttar Pradesh VAT Act by the then President of ICAI, Mr. Manoj Fadnis.
In his commitment to professional development, CA Piyush Agrawal actively participates in the Kanpur GST CA Association, where he was unanimously elected as President for the term 2020-21 and 2021-22. Currently, he specializes in GST laws and heads an indirect tax team comprising young professionals exclusively involved in GST practice. His dedication to staying updated with the latest developments in taxation laws, coupled with his extensive experience and expertise, makes him a valuable asset to the profession.
